Joan’s Sewing Club – What’s that?

One of my favourite parts about running a fabric store is interacting with other sewists, sharing ideas and tips. I started Sewing Club to foster some of that sharing. The idea is that each season you can join in by purchasing a garment kit and see others making the same thing, hear about their experience, all while making your own beautiful outfit.

Each seasonal kit comes with a carefully selected pattern, the perfect fabric to match, and all the notions to bring it to life. Here at this blog you will find handy articles relating to the project and examples of what other sewists have made and some really helpful tips that they picked up along the way.

We’re kicking off Sewing Club with the Autumn ’24 edition. While it’s technically not Autumn anymore, this make is perfect for Autumn right through to Summer evenings. We’ve teamed up with the exceptional Daughter Judy to bring you not one but two amazing patterns for a stylish yet relaxed coord set with the Post Pant and Wren Fleece.

The fabric supplied in the kit is an Organic Cotton Sweatshirting in a versatile mid weight, great for layering without overheating. This specialty sweatshirting fabric has a delightfully soft fleece back for extra cosiness and comfort. The fabric is available in a choice of 5 colours and the kit comes with coordinating flat ribbing for the neck and cuffs.
