Joan’s Sewing Club | Spring ’25
The Spring Sewing Club edition features an easy breezy, casual cool shirt and pants, perfect for spring and summer. The Daughter Judy Genra Shirt is a classic relaxed button shirt made up in a delightful cotton & linen blend gingham or stripe from Merchant & Mills. We’ve paired this shirt with the supremely comfortable Kite Pants by Matchy Matchy Sewing Club in a soft 100% cotton chambray. The Kite pants are high-waisted, with a subtly curved leg for a relaxed, modern shape (think barrel-lite).
The Spring edition is available in limited quantities and for a short time only. Some fabric selections are particularly limited.

Difficulty: Intermediate.
The Genra is a classic in that unfussy, unprecious way. Structured but still relaxed showing off just enough of your decolletage. A seasonless staple that looks good slightly wrinkled and great with the sleeves rolled à la Jenna Lyons.

Difficulty: Easy.
The Kite Pants are all about easy sewing and effortless style! Designed with beginners in mind (but great for all skill levels), this pattern comes together quickly and is packed with playful details. The high-waisted, ankle-length fit features a subtly curved leg for a relaxed, modern shape (think barrel-lite). A unique side inset detail makes the perfect canvas for patchworking, color-blocking, or using up those favorite fabric scraps. This fun silhouette includes two front pockets and two back pockets. The elastic waistband keeps things comfy, so you can wear them all day, every day.
The Fabric Details
A versatile cloth made with organic cotton and linen in India, prewashed at the mill for a soft finish.
Available in a selection of gingham and stripes.
- Composition: 88% organic cotton, 12% linen
- Width: 148cm
- Weight: 151gsm/4.5oz
- Stripes size: 2cm wide running parallel to selvedge
- Gingham check size: 1.2cm
Indian fabrics are sometimes susceptible to irregularities in the weave or print, this is all part of their charm and are not classed as flaws.
Care instructions: For the first couple of washes, place the fabric in the washing machine drum at 30 or 40 degrees with a handful of table salt. This will help fix the dye to prevent it running.

A super versatile light weight chambray cotton denim. Prewashed at the mill.
Available in a choice of 3 colours.

Care Instructions: Please note chambray denim is made to fade over time. Cold machine wash. Line dry in the shade.
