It all started with Nana’s sewing machine
When my Nana Joan went into a rest home she gave me her sewing machine. I’d been around sewing all my life. My mum made all my clothes when I was a child – I’d never sewed for myself.
Inspired by Nana’s sewing machine, I started making my own clothes, learning how to sew as an adult. It opened up a whole new world. Finally, I could make what I always wanted to wear. The only trouble was I couldn’t always find the fabrics I wanted locally.
So began Joan’s Fine Fabric back in 2021.
