The ZW Coat is an unlined, unisex oversized coat with batwing sleeves, a round collar and patch pockets. The short version has a button front, while the long version adds a waist tie. The pattern includes guidance for adding a lining. The short coat is suitable for beginners; the long coat is better suited to intermediate sewists.

Size chart

Size One: bust 86–104cm / 33–40", waist 66–84cm / 26–33", hip 88–108cm / 34–42", based on 150cm / 59" wide fabric. Fabric width determines the finished coat and sleeve length; allow additional fabric if you need longer sleeves.

Please note: This PDF sewing pattern uses zero waste pattern cutting and comprises of instructions to draw shapes directly onto your fabric. There are no large pattern pieces to print out.

Recommended fabric
Ideal in mid-heavyweight wool coating; lighter wool or cotton drill also works for a lighter jacket/trench feel. The coat is cut crosswise, so fabric width affects finished length. Fabric required: 1.40m for the short coat or 2.00m for the long coat, at 145–160cm wide.

Approximately 25cm / 10" iron-on fusing if using lighter fabric
